Diary of a Desperate Dieter - Weigh in with Rosemary Conley Solo Slim

 My first weigh in since I started Rosemary Conley Solo Slim. Solo Slim is Rosemary Conley's solution to solo dieting. Guaranteed portion control, no measuring , no calorie counting, no preparing. Just grab a ready meal pop it in the Microwave for 3 minutes add some vegetables or salad and your meal is ready.

The food box also came with a little guide book, Cereal bars, Hot Chocolate and a block of cheese. I bought a 7 day box to try. The meals taste pretty good, so far I have only found one soup that I did not like. For breakfast I have chosen to have Special K and measured my portion with Rosemary Conley Portion Pots. Love Portion Pots! 

I have not found myself hungry, although I have missed my Mini Eggs and Wine. But its a small price to pay. Especially when I hop on the scales. And now to the important part, what I have lost.



I am going to buy the 28 day food box today and keep going with Solo Slim. Here's hoping I have finally found the perfect diet!

Asos Curve - So cute!

Hi guys, hope you are enjoying the sun. Sadly I have been stuck in the office dreaming of a beer garden, sipping wine dressed in a Summery outfit. Although trapped in the office I can dream..... and I have found two perfect looks for chilling out in the sun, both from Asos Curve. Both the skirt and dress cost £35, which I think is good value. Diary of a desperate dieter

I have been writing posts about how being morbidly obese (such an awful term) has effected me for over a year now. On the dieting front I have lost count of diets, successes and failures. On the positive side I have learnt a lot about what's truly healthy and have picked up some fantastic tips, however I am no thinner. In fact I am bigger than when I started blogging and unfit.

For me I need to loose weight and become fitter due to my physical health being poor. I have Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and now a bad knee (awaiting MRI). All these disabilities have hindered me over the past year meaning I have not been able to exercise like I used too. Then there's the psychological side to my weight. I am not going to lie to you, I don't like being the size I am. My dream is to be a size 16, it seems so unattainable at the moment. Please don't hate me for this dream.

Last year I dreamt of me now in 2012, after dieting for a year I would now be a size 16/18. I dreamt of walking in my local town and bumping into old friends with my head held high. Instead I am a size 24 (was a size 20/22), so where did I go wrong? It must be my love for eating on an evening and enjoying a glass of red wine or two. I could kick myself, obviously this love for food and wine was stronger than the love for myself. Its very easy to write a post, moan about your weight, set goals so that you eat more easily and then enjoy some Brie on toast with a bottle of red. Sabotaging all your hard work during the day which seems to be my floor.

Living with the feeling of guilt that I have let myself down seems to have given me a good kick up my backside this time. I have started , the thought behind me buying Solo Slim foods is that there's no measuring. I can not go wrong with my portion control, I only bought a weeks worth of food to see if this diet suits me. You choose your meals/snacks for a week and they are delivered to your door within 48 hours. All you need is your vegetables. Today is my third day and so far the food has not been bad. In fact I am enjoying it, although on an evening I crave for goodies which puts me in a bad mood.

I will let you know how I get on very soon. Fingers crossed I have found the diet/healthy eating plan that suits me this time.

Aussie catwalk look from hair to toe!

The sunshine is out and spring has come at last. This makes me happy and to celebrate I thought I would bring you my look from "Hair to Toe".

My hair is thin and can look really limp and dull, to achieve volume I have been using Aussie Ausome Volume 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner which I love for the convenience and of course the life it brings to my hair in just one step.

I then applied Aussie Dual personality Ausome Volume and conditioning mouse to my towel dry hair and blow dried it using by bristle brush, paying special attention to my hair near the crown to add extra volume.

Top tip: If you have a brush with a metal barrel like mine, heat it with the hair dryer and then shape your hair. It works!

To finish off my hair and ensure it looks great all day I use Aussie Dual Personality Hi Hold and Hi Shine hairspray. It smells fantastic, holds your style but allows your hair to move.

I am wearing some of my favourite makeup. 17 BB Cream Light, MAC Wonder Woman Amazon Princess blush, Avon True Colour Washed Khakis eyeshadow, Avon glimmerstick diamonds eyeliner in smoky diamond and Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara.

My nails are painted with Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine in Tangerine Fatal.

To finish off I am wearing my Simply Be 'Angel Ribbons'
perfect for a glorious day like today teamed with a cardigan I bought from a local shop.

Now for the toes, don't panic peeps I am not going to show you my feet but my little Ballerina Pumps from New Look, its a little too cold for sandals and due to my knee injury I cant wear heels at the moment (otherwise I would have worn this outfit with a pair of wedges).

SLiNK magazine launches their First PRINT Issue

I am very excited that has launched their First PRINT Issue

I have been a reader of Slink Magazine since its first issue, its an inspiring UK Fashion and Lifestyle glossy aimed at women size 14 plus.

SLiNK magazine launches Issue 5 as their first print edition (you can get your hands on an issue through their ). This issue contains interviews with Whitney Thompson, the only plus size winner of America's Next Top Model and brand director, Pam Shainhouse of Allistyle.

Simply Be opens its doors in Stockton-on-Tees

On Tuesday I drove up to Teesside Shopping Park, Stockton-on-Tees to attend the Simply Be Store opening. The evening did not disappoint, the store is big, bright and welcoming. The staff, friendly and ready to help if you need them and the clothes were, as always fabulous. 

I did manage to take some pictures, apologies for them not being the best quality but I think you will be impressed with the shop itself.

I met lots of lovely people and enjoyed spending the evening with and bumping into and . I also got to play with the Magic Mirror again, I just had too! This time I made pose with me!

Yes its me in a Jumpsuit again, who would of guessed. This one is from 'Angel Ribbons' , I really like it and its very comfortable and can be worn dressed down or with some fabulous accessories could be worn on a night out.

What style means to me - Part Two

Inspired by my previous post I thought I would share with you how I would complete my Ladies Day outfit. I found two unique pieces of jewellery that I love, perfect for my over all look.

This is Silver plated with pearls, its a real statement piece and I love it!

And as its a day at the races this necklace is perfect is handmade by designer titiMadam. Sadly it is out of stock at present but pop on over to the site, there's some fabulous jewellery.

‘What style means to me’ - The Ladies Day Style competition

'What style means to me?' 

Style is about elegance, fashion and character. But as a plus size girl for years I did not really believe I could have style. Plenty a models and friends had 'style' and I aspired to be them, I held no self worth. But then I started blogging about plus size fashion, diet and beauty and found you my reader and so many inspirational, beautiful women of all shapes and sizes, who carry themselves with such confidence that I can only admire.

They have inspired me to think outside the box, I don't have to wear frumpy, tent like clothes. I can experiment and now can find clothes that I never dreamt of wearing. Clothes that can make me stylish and confident without breaking the bank.

 I have the perfect stylish outfit for Ladies Day at Aintree Racecourse and yes the has made an appearance again (I could not help it, its just perfect for this kind of occasion). 

 This great Linen Jacket is from Asda, it will keep the chill away without breaking the bank. Sizes range from 8-24.


The Simply Be Spot Palazzo Jumpsuit is perfect, helping us girls with curves look fabulous (sizes range14-32, Regular and Petite length) and then there's the perfect pair of shoes, comfortable, fashionable and a great price. 


Every girl at the Races has to have a hat, sadly my heads too big (don't laugh) so I would wear a Hair Piece.


And to finish it off a great clutch from Matalan to carry your winnings in!

I am taking part in 'The Online Mile' for Sports Relief

"This year The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile – which happens all over the UK – is set to be the biggest yet. are supporting to help change lives here in the UK, and in some of the world’s poorest countries."

I spotted the campaign on Twitter and decided to show my support by doing The Online Mile.

This year I can not physically undertake the mile myself due to my disabilities. However my kids are. My youngest is running a mile and then undertaking an obstacle course and eldest is running 3 miles. I am a proud Mum!

Diary of a Desperate Dieter - Biggest Workout Mistakes

As some one who has spent hours in the gym in the past and not achieved my dream body I thought I would share with you this great advice from Neil Johnson. Neil is a Senior Personal Trainer and Fitness Expert at . I certainly am guilty of each of the listed mistakes!

#1: Sit Ups = Six Pack

Not quite! In fact too much concentration on the abs and no focus on other areas of your body could lead your stomach to expand and a pot belly rearing its ugly head! Sit ups combined with an overall weight loss programme, a balanced diet and regular exercise will help with this.

#2: Under Eating

All too often I see people trying to lose weight by starving themselves. Yet this doesn’t actually help you lose weight,instead it leaves you with muscle loss, a slower metabolism and less energy. By having a diet which consists of eating foods in moderation but exercising regularly at the same time – this is how you will lose weight.

#3: Ignoring Weights

Do you spend all your gym time doing cardio? Chopping and changing between the treadmill and the cross-trainer? People, particularly women,tend to gravitate toward cardio exercises and avoid weights like the plague. There’s a myth that weight training will bulk you up.This simply won’t happen unless you go too extreme. In fact lifting weights will tone and firm up your muscles, something that cardio actually cannot do. Maintaining regular weight training will increase your body’s ability to burn fat around the clock.

#4: Repeating Workouts

Going to the gym 2/3 times a week and doing the same routine each time will work to begin with. You may see some pounds drop straight off and your body getting firmer but this needs to be maintained. The way to do this is to keep pushing yourself, keep adding to your workout. Whether that means increasing the weights you are using or adding quarter of an hour onto your cardio training every couple of weeks, you need to be always progressing.

#5: Skipping Stretching

Stretching is so important both before and after a workout but is

the most common mistake.Stretching is important to be done properly and not rushed as it increases our flexibility, helps with a better posture and also decreases muscle injury.

#6: Playing Favourites

Playing favourites in your training can lead to problems. Many of us have a body part we prefer to workout on or a particular exercise we like doing more than others. However, favouring these can leave you unbalanced with poor posture.When you workout you need to work out the whole body.

Doncaster Simply Be store opens

Hello, How are you?

I have not been around yet again for a while. Still struggling with life, it seems to get in the way of the old blog regularly these days. But never mind, I am blogging today and here is my little post.

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch party of Simply Be's shop in Doncaster. I was very excited about this as Doncaster is the nearest Simply Be shop to my home so far.  The Doncaster store did not disappoint, it was fabulous. Just as bright as Bury and very welcoming. It is slightly smaller than the Bury store but this made no difference to me at all.

I was very lucky to get to meet lots of lovely people, try fabulous clothes on, feel comfortable in my own skin and even enjoy a glass of Champagne. My idea of Heaven.

I never dreamed a Jumpsuit would look okay on me so I was pleasently suprised when I tried the on. I really liked it and am considering buying it for a Wedding I am going to.

I did buy a beautiful top though for the kids Confirmation.
